Company history for the year 1996

February
The Company wins the Battalion Colours competition again with excellent performances by Robert Mammen, Robert Wyer and Anthony Freer.


February
The Company takes part in the North London Cross Country race at Hillyfields. The Company Section team of Simon Fryer, David Tozer and Richard Lainchbury are third, sixth and ninth respectively, and comes second overall. The Senior runners also do well, with Jonathan Arnold (third) and Robert Wyer (seventh) scoring very well.


February
Steve Borkett retires as an Officer after 10 years of service to the Company. Steve came to the 3rd Enfield from the 12th Enfield and served through the ranks of the Company. He took part in all the activities of the Company; he was excellent at sports. He helped the Junior Section staff and in the Company Section, he helped to run the gymnastics.


March
A new museum is opened dedicated to the history of the Middlesex Regiment at the Royal British Legion in Holtwhites Hill. Two 3rd Enfield boys, Robert Wyer and Robert Mammen, form a guard of honour at the opening of the museum. Robert Wyer and Jonathan Arnold then perform the same duty during the visit of Michael Portillo MP. The event is covered on TV and the 3rd Enfield boys could be seen.


March
Adrian Bullock wins the London District Solo Bugler competition, becoming the youngest 3rd Enfield bugler to do so. Robert Mammen gains a well earned third place in the Solo Drummer competition.


March
The Drum Team comes second in the London District competition.


March
In the Battalion and North London Band competitions, the Company wins the Drum Team title and comes second in the Band competition.


March
In the Battalion Gymnastics competition, the Company wins the Groundwork and Vaulting sections, and comes second overall. Individual wins include James Howard (Junior Groundwork), Jonathan Arnold (Senior Vaulting and tied Senior overall) and Robert Wyer (Senior Groundwork and tied Senior overall).


March
The Company wins the Battalion/Zone Squad Drill competition and comes third in the London District final.


April
The 3rd Enfield Band combines with the 10th, 11th, 12th and 16th Enfield Companies to enter the London District Band competitions. The Band comes a very good second.


April
The Battalion First Aid competition takes place as a double header with the London District competition. The 3rd Enfield team comes second out of six with the team of Anthony Freer, Robert Mammen, Robert Wyer, Adrian Bullock and Jonathan Arnold.


April
The Junior Section wins the North London Zone 6-a-side Football competition.


Friday 3rd May
Company Captain Andrew Mason becomes a father with the birth of Emily.


Monday 20th May
The annual Company Display takes place at the Church Hall.


June
Three members of the Company attend the BB's Firm Foundations event at Felden Lodge, a Christian event that attracts over 1500 campers and many more day visitors from all over the country.


June
The 3rd Enfield wins the Enfield Battalion Junior Section Sports competition.


August
The annual Summer Camp is held on the Norfolk coast between Sheringham and Cromer.

Enfield Battalion Church Parade and Explore activity afternoon

On Sunday 24th March the annual Enfield Battalion Church Parade took place at Ponders End United Reformed Church (12th Enfield HQ), followed by an Explore activity afternoon for all age groups.
