Company history for the year 2008 - 125th anniversary of The Boys' Brigade
Tuesday 1st January
For the first time, the London Massed Bugle Band, including the 3rd Enfield, takes part in the annual New Year's Day Parade in London.
Sunday 20th January
The Company Enrolment Service takes place. Badges are awarded to boys in all sections, with members of the Company Section receiving badges from the recently introduced Discover Programme. Jamie Newport is also promoted to the rank of Corporal. As part of the new scheme he also gains the Discovery Badge, which is a new major award (the other two being the President's and Queen's Badges), thus making him the first 3rd Enfield member to do so.
Saturday 2nd February
The 3rd Enfield's Senior football team, which had joined with the 2nd Enfield for this season, finishes fourth in the North London Zone Senior Football League.
Saturday 9th February
The 3rd Enfield/133rd London Company football team finishes its season in fifth place in the North London Zone Company Football League.
Thursday 20th March
The new 3rd Enfield Colour Party of Jamie Newport, Sam Rowsell and Andrew Clarke takes part in the Enfield Battalion Colours competition for the first time and comes second. Sam Rowsell and Billy Bullock also enter the Two Smart Recruits competition, coming second. The 1st Hoddesdon wins the Colours and the 2nd Enfield wins the Two Smart Recruits, with the 1st Enfield winning the Small Squad Drill on the same night. All three competitions are held at Lancaster Road URC, home of the 1st Enfield.
Sunday 6th April
Former 3rd Enfield member and Company historian Rob Wilson takes part in the London leg of the Olympic Torch Relay for the Beijing Games, as one of 80 torch bearers to carry the flame across the capital. Rob runs the torch relay on the last part of Aldwych, into the Strand, and the first part of Fleet Street. An article appears in the London Stedfast Association's Onlooker magazine about the event.
Saturday 19th April
The London District Band and Drill competitions day takes place at the Kemnal Technology College in Sidcup. Once again, the combined band of the 1st and 3rd Enfield takes part in the Devonshire Cup competition and competes for the Don West Trophy for Musical Accuracy, and emerges victorious in both. Andrew Clarke also represents the 3rd Enfield in the Solo Drummer competition, and comes second.
Sunday 27th April
Enfield Battalion's annual Battalion Church Parade takes place at Christ Church URC, home of the 3rd Enfield. The service is led by the Battalion Chaplain, Rev Martin Legg, with a parade around the local area either side of the service.
Monday 28th April
The annual Company Display and Presentation evening is held at the Church Hall. Several items are put on for parents and friends of the Company, including Bible stories, games, drill, figure marching and gymnastics. As well as the annual Company awards, members of the Anchor Boys and Junior Section are presented with the special 125th Anniversary Community badge in recognition of their work collecting money for the Royal National Lifeboat Institution.
Saturday 17th May
A joint team from the 3rd and 10th Enfield Companies enters the Veterans competition at the 2008 Waltham Walk, and comes in second place overall.
Friday 23rd May to Monday 26th May
A group of five members from the 3rd Enfield attend the 2008 Firm Foundations festival at Felden Lodge and enjoy a weekend of Christian teaching, music and worship.
Saturday 31st May
The London Stedfast Association holds a 125th anniversary celebration event at the Historic Dockyard in Chatham, Kent. The 3rd Enfield is represented in various ways, including performances by the London Massed Bugle Band, and a bugle performance with the Stedfast Association Brass Band in the finale of the event.
Saturday 14th June
3rd Enfield member Tom Boorman is interviewed by the BBC's Clare Balding at the annual Trooping the Colour ceremony for HM The Queen's Official Birthday, after attending as part of the BB group. The interview is shown on BBC One in the morning as part of the channel's coverage, and replayed later in the day on BBC Two.
Saturday 21st June
The Company takes part in the annual Enfield Battalion Athletics competition, with sole representative Harry Williams entering events in both the Junior and Company Section competitions. Overall, the 3rd Enfield comes fourth in the Junior Section competition, and seventh in the Company Section competition. Both are won by the 12th Enfield.
Saturday 5th July
London District's annual Beating Retreat ceremony takes place at the Royal Hospital Chelsea. In an enjoyable event, the 3rd Enfield participates in items such as the London Massed Bugle Band, as well as performing General Salute and the fanfare in the joint Bugle Band with the 1st Enfield, and also joining with the 1st and the Stedfast Association Brass Band to perform Sunset Retreat.
Saturday 12th July
Enfield Battalion holds a Life 2 the Max fun day to celebrate the 125th anniversary of The Boys' Brigade. Members of the 3rd Enfield make up a group of around 140 people who attend the event at Felden Lodge.
Saturday 26th July to Saturday 2nd August
Five members of the 3rd Enfield join with the 10th Enfield on the annual Summer Camp, which this year is held on the field of Swanage Middle School, in Swanage, Dorset. The camp, which coincides with the Swanage Carnival, also includes such activities as swimming, quad biking, mini golf, football, tennis, beach trips, a trip to Paultons Theme Park and much more.
Friday 5th September to Sunday 7th September
Brigade Council motions to adopt a new Boys' Brigade Constitution and Regulations are accepted at the annual meeting at Tulliallan Castle, Fife. Amongst other things, the motions allow BB Companies to work with girls through membership of Amicus and Girls' Association.
Tuesday 16th September
Long-time 3rd Enfield member, supporter and at the time Company President, Bill Hutchings, passes away in Shrewsbury. Bill was in the Company for many years, having joined the Life Boys in the 1920s and progressing through the ranks, becoming Company President in 2005.
Sunday 5th October
The 3rd Enfield's annual Enrolment Service takes place at Christ Church URC, and is combined with Holy Communion on the weekend of the 125th anniversary of The Boys' Brigade.
Saturday 8th November
The London Massed Bugle Band once again takes part in the annual Lord Mayor's Show, which also features a float put on by The Boys' Brigade nationally to celebrate the 125th anniversary of the organisation.
Sunday 9th November
Members of the 3rd Enfield join with the rest of Enfield Battalion to take part in the annual Remembrance Day parade in Enfield Town, with the BB and GB contingent being led by the Battalion Band from Christ Church to the Cenotaph where a service is held, and then from there through the Town and back to Christ Church.
The Coronavirus pandemic meant that we weren't able to hold our Awards Evening in May, so instead we undertook a series of socially distanced awards deliveries to finish the session in July.

We recognise that this will be a difficult period of time for children and young people, with them being restricted in their activities, not attending school or having opportunities to take part in other clubs and after school activities.

From Friday 13th to Sunday 15th March members of Company Section and Seniors from across North London travelled to Lambourne End Outdoor Centre, near Chigwell in Essex for a Weekend Away.
