Summer Camp 2024

From Saturday 24th to Friday 30th August members of our Company and Seniors age groups, along with friends from 10th Enfield and 4th Barnet, travelled to St Brelade in Jersey for our annual Summer Camp.

This was a change to our regular location in Norfolk, and was the first time taking Summer Camp to Jersey (and indeed anywhere outside of Norfolk) since 2011.

The trip of course had additional logistics to consider, with a small group of leaders taking minibuses and luggage by ferry, and the remainder of the leaders and all of the young people travelling by air.

Our base for the week was the headquarters of 10th Jersey Scout Group, with the site including a purpose-built building along with camping grounds, set within the grounds of Les Creux Millennium Country Park.

Throughout the week the group of 20 young people had the opportunity to take part in a range of off site activities including trips to the beach, coasteering (climbing on and jumping off the coastal rock faces), blokarting (wind-powered karts on the flat beach of St Ouen), kayaking, ringo rides, Camp Olympics, an Around the Town Challenge and swimming at Aquasplash in St Helier, a Treasure Hunt, a high ropes course and power fan at Valley Adventure Centre, a trip to Rocco’s Adventure Golf and lots
more.

We also enjoyed a variety of activities on site, including Hunger Games, football, indoor games, a quiz, water games, a colour run, football darts and evening entertainment including bingo, Deal or No Deal, The 1% Club and a Talent Show which everyone got involved with by putting on some fantastic acts!

Each day also included some devotional time, linking to the Olympics by exploring various Bible stories on topics including what we see as important in life, Jesus as our ‘coach’, team work and supporting each other, praise, communication, perseverance and how these things link to our relationship with God.

After a rainy outward flight we were fortunate to have lovely weather for the remainder of the week. We had a fantastic time – thank you to all who organised it and all at 10th Enfield and 4th Barnet for making it happen!
