Autumn Weekend Away

From Friday 23rd to Sunday 25th October, members of our Company and Seniors age groups enjoyed an Autumn Weekend Away.

The Friday evening saw us leave Enfield and head to Staffordshire and our accommodation for the weekend, the Leslie Johnson Activities Centre – which is run by North Staffordshire Battalion and sits on the edge of the Peak District.

On the Saturday we spent the day at Alton Towers, and despite the wind and rain causing some ride suspensions we were able to go on lots of rides including Th13teen, Nemesis Reborn, Toxicator, Wicker Man, Galactica and more!

In the evening we had dinner on site at the Rollercoaster Restaurant, which is set below a series of mini rollercoaster tracks and sees meals travel through loop-the-loops on their way to your table, before heading back to our accommodation for some table games there.

Before leaving the Leslie Johnson Activities Centre on the Sunday we had breakfast and a short devotional time, reflecting on how, just like a rollercoaster, life can be full of ups and downs, but just like we trust those who maintain and run theme park rides we can also trust in God to sustain us through life’s twists and turns.

The weather necessitated a change of plans for our final morning, so the lads instead took on a morning of climbing at Clip ‘n Climb Nottingham, where they were able to test themselves on the 21 different climbs of varying difficulties and had lots of fun doing so!
